Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD)

Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD) focuses on two interrelated research areas: (1) Climate Change Impacts, Risks and Adaptation focuses on integrating physical models with socio-economic approaches in the context of decision-making and risk analysis, while (2) Urban Systems studies connections between urban infrastructure, information and communications technology, energy, and water to help create liveable cities that are smart and sustainable.

Scientific challenges include modelling for urban and climate services, dynamic damage and adaptation cost assessments related to climate hazards such as flooding, the climate-water-energy nexus, and bio-economy. Statistical analysis, data management and Big Data are emphasized alongside qual- itative methods such as value chain analysis.

A key strength of CCSD is its multidisciplinary team of researchers, who combine expertise in geography, economics, engineering, and physics to co-create integrated solutions to current societal challenges together with stakeholders.

Target journals for CCSD include ACM Trans. of Database Systems, Applied Energy, Climatic Change, Environmental Science and Policy, Scientific Reports, and Nature Climate Change.
